Project Overview
Set on the dramatic Cornish coastline, this new build home was designed to maximise its breathtaking beachfront setting. The brief was to create a modern, light-filled retreat that blurs the line between inside and out, offering uninterrupted sea views and a strong sense of connection to the surrounding landscape.

Design Approach
The architecture is defined by a clean, minimalist form — a timber-clad rectangular volume with expansive floor-to-ceiling glazing running the full length of the facade. This simple geometry frames panoramic views of the ocean while creating a strikingly modern silhouette that sits lightly within the dunes. Deep-set balconies and overhangs provide sheltered outdoor spaces, enhancing the home’s year-round usability.

Spatial Layout
Internally, the home is organised around an open-plan living, dining, and kitchen space that flows directly onto the terrace and beach beyond. Bedrooms and private spaces are oriented to enjoy the coastal views, with sliding glass walls allowing for natural ventilation and seamless transitions to the outdoors. The interiors embrace a pared-back palette, ensuring the landscape remains the focal point.

Sustainability & Materials
Natural timber cladding allows the house to weather gracefully over time, blending with the tones of the sand dunes. High-performance glazing, discreet shading, and energy-efficient systems ensure the property performs sustainably in a challenging coastal climate. The elevated structure also minimises environmental impact while offering protection from shifting sands and tides.

Outcome
The result is a contemporary coastal retreat that celebrates simplicity, light, and connection to place. By pairing minimalist design with natural materials, the house creates a serene escape where the ever-changing sea and sky take centre stage.
