Project Overview
This proposal for a new build home in the Cotswolds is currently in for planning consent. Designed to sit harmoniously within its rural setting, the house combines traditional materials with a contemporary architectural language, creating a residence that is both sympathetic to its surroundings and tailored to modern living.

Design Approach
The design takes inspiration from vernacular Cotswold architecture, expressed through stone walls, pitched gables, and natural textures. These traditional elements are reinterpreted with crisp detailing, large expanses of glazing, and bold geometric forms. A striking glazed gable creates a strong focal point, while a more minimal stone-clad wing provides balance and contrast.

Spatial Layout
The home is designed around open-plan living spaces that connect directly to the garden terrace, maximising natural light and creating fluidity between indoors and outdoors. Private bedrooms and quiet retreats are arranged across the first floor, while generous family and entertaining spaces occupy the ground floor. Outdoor living is integral to the design, with landscaped gardens complementing the architecture.

Sustainability & Materials
Natural stone ensures the house feels rooted in the local context, while timber and modern cladding introduce warmth and variety. High-performance glazing, improved insulation, and discreet renewable energy technologies will ensure the property performs to the highest contemporary environmental standards.

Outcome
Once approved and built, this project will deliver a sensitive yet striking modern home. Rooted in Cotswold tradition but reimagined for 21st-century living, it will provide a timeless and elegant family residence that feels both contemporary and enduring.

We’re so excited about the design for our new home. It captures everything we wanted — a house that feels rooted in the Cotswolds but also fresh, modern, and perfectly suited to the way we live. The balance of traditional stonework with contemporary glazing is stunning, and we can already imagine how incredible the light-filled spaces will feel. We’re really looking forward to the next stage and seeing this vision come to life.
